Hi all, my name is Aafke Boomsma. I was born and raised in the Netherlands in Breukelen (between Amsterdam and Utrecht), and moved to Adelaide (South Australia) in 2014. I am now a research scientist, and I previously worked as a certified auditor.
Me as a Teacher
I have been teaching Dutch since 2016, both online and face to face. Not only am I fluent in Dutch, I am also capable of explaining the grammar and syntax rules. My background as a financial auditor has taught me to be able to talk the trade of many different industries. This allows me to teach my students some of the vocabulary that they might need for a particular situation. I also maintain close contacts in the Netherlands, allowing me to stay up to date with the modern language.
My Lessons & Teaching Style
Every student learns in a different way. I try to work with the student and see what works best for them, which results in a mutually agreed upon lesson plan. I also keep in mind why my students want to learn Dutch and focus on the lessons on those elements that are most useful for their study goals.
