John van Ruth serves as Chief Executive Officer of Operation Finders Foundation, who take young men and women aged 14 to 18 who lack self esteem, challenge and good role models, on a trek through remote areas in the Flinders Ranges. These young people are then exposed to a series of challenges and the positive experience and achievement helps them rebuild their confidence and people skills. John is a board member of the Wyatt Trust, a philanthropy organisation with assets worth $90 million, offering opportunities for South Australians experiencing poverty, so they can lead satisfying, productive lives and participate more actively in the community.
John has more than 20 years of national and international IT experience. He served as Chief Financial Officer for Coopers Brewery for four years and held a number of senior executive roles with other iconic South Australian companies including the RAA and Faulding. He worked at EY, KPMG and Arthur Andersen with particular focus on strategic advisory services in emerging technologies in Australia, Netherlands and Canada. He served as Chief Information Officer of Adelaide Bank from 2004 to 2007. He has been a Director of Buddy Platform since 2016. John serves as Chairman of the Chartered Accountants ANZ SA/NT Regional Council and councilor on the Chartered Accountants ANZ joint governing council. He is also a councillor on the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) SA Regional Council, and member of the National AICD Director Professional Development Oversight Committee.
John believes it is possible to incentivise social impact through corporate reporting and radical tax reform! Is this an illusion or can it be done? Register for the event to find out!
